Maid drinks petrol in suicide bid

An Asian housemaid in Ras Al Khaimah drank a large amount of petrol to end her life just after a phone chat with her mother in her home country, the press reported on Tuesday.

The maid was rushed to hospital by her Emirati employers and doctors raced against time to save her life.

Newspapers said the prosecutor charged the maid of attempting a suicide and decided to send her to court.
