OB, 31, Sri Lankan, was also ordered deportation after serving jail term.

According to the records, the victim RKK, 39, sales representative, testified that his family needed a maid so he started searching for one in the newspapers.

“I read an advertisement in the paper and called the maid at 8pm on March 7, 2009. OB came to our house the next morning. I asked her for her passport. But she said visa needs to be transferred from her ex-sponsor and agreed about the salary. The next day, he left the house with his wife in the morning. The maid stayed with my mother-in-law and my little son. At around 11 am my wife called me and told me that the maid stole the jewellery and the cash amount and ran away. So, I called the police. She stole jewellery worth Dh34,000 and Dh18,000 cash,” he testified.

“There was jewellery in my wife’s wardrobe and in our bed room which was locked. Other jewellery items were in my son’s room and belonged to my mother-in-law,” he testified.

His mother-in-law OKS, 52, testified that she was staying with her grandson in his room. The maid entered the room and stood behind her. As she smelled strange, she turned behind and asked the maid about the source of the smell. But in a few seconds she felt unconscious and when she woke up after half-an-hour with the boy, the maid had disappeared from the house with the jewellery.

The maid already had criminal record with the police.
