There have been massive traffic congestions on three major Dubai roads - Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Airport Tunnel and Etihad Road, today evening, Dubai Police said in a tweet.
The police didn’t give any reason for the congestion but it’s believed that the traffic congestion is due to office-goers returning home.
Earlier in the evening, there was major traffic bottleneck on Sheikh Zayed Road heading towards Sharjah after an accident on Sheikh Zayed Road opposite Burj Khalifa.
Traffic towards World Trade Centre on Sheikh Zayed Road was moving at snail pace after the accident, motorists told Emirates 24l7 in the afternoon at 3pm.
Soon later Dubai Police tweeted that an accident took place on Sheikh Zayed Road opposite Burj Khalifa towards World Trade Centre roundabout at around 3.20pm. It asked drivers to drive carefully.
Earlier today in the morning, an accident near Jebel Ali on Sheikh Zayed Road slowed down traffic heading from Dubai to Jebel Ali and beyond.
Traffic was severely jammed for over an hour. However, by 8am, the bottleneck had begun to ease.
The Dubai Police Traffic control room confirmed to this website that an accident had occurred and there was a traffic situation but could not provide any details for now.
“I left for my office early today, but was caught in a traffic jam on Sheikh Zayed Road close to Ibn Battuta Mall. I am not sure where the accident was but I could hear police car sirens, “ said Rajeev K, who works in Jebel Ali.
