A 28-year-old Bangladeshi worker threatened to kidnap a compatriot’s wife and her son if she does not go with him, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim, TMZ, 30, testified that on January 12, at around 7.30pm when she was in her house in Hamdan area, she received a call from an unknown number.

“The caller asked me to go out with him or he would kidnap me and my son. I asked him not to call again and hung up. I called my brother-in-law and told him about the call. He called the man who threatened him as well. The caller called me three times later in the day and repeated the same threat, so I called the police,” she testified.

The victim’s brother-in-law Mohammed Ahmad, 26, sales representative, testified that while he was with the victim in her house, she told him that someone is annoying her over the phone.

“I called the number and a man repeated the same threat. He said he would kidnap her and her son if she refused to go out with him and that nobody can prevent him from carrying out his threat. He also said that she is his wife and not my brother’s,” he testified.

The court adjourned the case until February 29.
