Man held for harassing women in Sharjah mall

Sharjah Police has arrested MPM, an Egyptian, on the charge of harassing women in a shopping centre in the emirate.

Police had been informed by a mall’s security men that a man was taking advantage of the congestion to harass women shoppers.

The accused initially denied harassing women but admitted it after he was shown images captured by the mall’s cameras.

The accused was transferred to the public prosecution in Sharjah, on charges of harassment of women.

Colonel Omar Abdullah Al Suwaidi of Sharjah Police said harassment of women is not common in the emirate and urged women to dress modestly to reduce the risk of harassment.
