Man pays Dh300,000 in Dubai traffic fines

An Emirati man paid nearly Dh300,000 in traffic fines to the Dubai police after accumulating hundreds of road offences, mostly speeding, to top a shortlist of the worst 25 drivers in the emirate, the press reported on Tuesday.

Police said other drivers in the list have yet to settle their fines, including a Bangladeshi woman who has committed 204 traffic offences worth nearly Dh204,000.

Another female driver, an Emirati, has piled up 76 offences for Dh117,000, according to a police report published in the semi-official daily Al Ittihad.

It showed the 25 drivers with the highest number of offences included 19 Emiratis along with motorists from Britain, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Egypt.
