The Dubai Criminal Court adjourned the case of an Egyptian who killed his compatriot over Dh3,000 dispute until September 16 to hear the testimony of the forensic doctor.

The court heard on Monday the testimony of Captain Ahmad Ramadan who said there was no injury to the accused at the time of arrest.

Denying the premeditated murder charge, the accused told the court in a previous hearing that the victim had first attempted to stab him while driving and he received an injury in his hand then he stabbed him back without intending to kill him.

He claimed that he first used a knife that was in the car to stab back and then he used the victim’s knife as his own got broken.

Ramadan testified that on December 17, 2009, he rushed to Sheikh Zayed Road near the Mall of the Emirates as there was a fight. On arriving there, he learned from other officers at the crime scene that it was a murder case. Ramadan saw a man stabbed to death in the front passenger seat of a car and the accused was in a police car.

The accused, SHZ, 33, told Ramadan that he and the victim Dia Salah Taha had a fight while he was driving and the latter attempted to stab him. So he stopped the car and took a knife that was in the car and stabbed him.

The accused said as the knife got broken, he took the knife that fell from the victim’s hand.

When asked by the Jury presided by Judge Hamad Abdullatif whether the accused had sustained any injury, Ramadan answered in the negative.

Ramadan also told the court that the claimed broken knife was not found at the crime scene whereas the one said to be Taha’s was seen next to the victim’s body.

The accused told Ramadan that he and the victim were on their way to Jebel Ali police station to solve the problem of Dh3,000 rent that the victim was supposed to pay him as he offered him sharing accommodation.

According to the forensic report, the victim received 11 stab wounds, seven of which were deep and caused internal bleeding and tearing of lung tissue. The report said two stab wounds were enough to cause death. It said the injury to the accused’s finger could have occurred when was stabbing the victim.

The court decided to listen to the forensic doctor Ashraf Ibrahim Hassan and asked the Dubai prosecution to notify him to attend the hearing scheduled for September 16.
