A couple caught in an obscene act in a public place in Abu Dhabi reported an Arab man to the police, claiming he insulted them for no reason. In court, the Arab was acquitted after the judge found that the couple made a fake statement.

The Arab said he was stepping out of a hotel in Abu Dhabi when he saw the two in an indecent position. When he tried to advise them to stop such behaviour, they swore at him, prompting him to try and take them to the police.

“Hotel workers and other people interfered and persuaded the man to forgive the couple and leave them alone,” the Arabic language daily Al Bayan said.

“On the next day, the Arab was summoned by the police after the couple reported that he insulted them and assaulted the man…in court, the Arab was acquitted of all charges,” the paper added without mentioning whether the couple was prosecuted for making a false statement.
