Markets to close on Thursday; 3-day weekend for UAE public, private sectors

The Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) has decided to close the financial markets nationwide on Thursday, January 24 and resume on Sunday, January 27 to mark Prophet Mohammed's (PBUH) birthday.
 
SCA CEO, board members and employees congratulated President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Members of Supreme Council Their Highnesses and Rulers of Emirates on the occasion.     

A paid holiday has been declared for both the public and private sector on January 24, 2013 to mark Milad Al Nabi, the birthday of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him).

Ministries and federal departments will remain closed on 12th of Rabi Al Awwal, 1434 Hijri.

The circular was issued by Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.

Al Qattami extended greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, people of the UAE and Muslim countries all over the world on the auspicious occasion.

A paid holiday has been declared for the private sector on 12th, Rabi Al Awwal, 1434 H, corresponding to January 24, 2013 to mark Milad Al Nabi, the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Minister of Labour Saqr Ghobash made the announcement in a ministerial decision.

Ghobash on the auspicious occasion extended greetings to the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates and the people of UAE.

Work will resume on Sunday, 27 January, according to the text of the Regulations of the Federal Law by Decree No. 11 of 2008 on human resources in the federal government.
