It’s that time again when the city works on the finishing touches for the biggest party to see off another year.

After having broken the world record for the largest and longest fireworks display in the world for the NYE 2014 celebrations, plans are on the way to make this year's New Year’s Eve to be even more spectacular than ever before.

While the Burj Khalifa goes futuristic, EDM headliners Martin Garrix and David Guetta are both jetting into Dubai, while Malayalam cinema fans find all roads leading to Mammootty in 2016.

‘Emirates 24|7’ puts together the best of the rest in this one night of decadence and revelry:

Burj Khalifa Fireworks - Downtown Dubai

Great for: Theatric and free

One of the most coveted spots in Dubai for New Year’s Eve, a view of the Burj Khalifa fireworks can shoot up real estate prices and prompt coffee houses to sell premium seats at spiraling high prices.

This year, the Downtown Dubai New Year’s Eve Gala will have clearly defined themed-acts, each highlighting an inspiring facet of the emirate, stated Emaar, with the crowning glory being the visual-masterpiece of the Burj Khalifa fireworks and light displays.

This year’s futuristic theme will see the façade narrate a story that will be presented in multiple hues and forms, each resonating with Dubai residents and the global community.

Visitors to Downtown Dubai can watch the spectacle from specially allocated viewing points in Burj Park, as well as from Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, where visitors can view the spectacle free of cost.

They are recommended to arrive before 6pm and take public transport to arrive at the venue, while the Roads and Transport Authority plans to extend the operational hours of the Dubai Metro for their convenience.

The event will be broadcast live on international TV channels as well as live-streamed online at www.mydowntowndubai.com.

Online visitors can choose from three different viewing cameras for a total perspective of the event.

Martin Garrix at Meydan

Great for: EDM fans

If electronic dance music is your mantra, then nothing beats the ‘Sensation’ night at Meydan this NYE with DJ Martin Garrix at the decks.

The party promises a spectacular beginning to the New Year as the Dutch DJ and music producer performs live with city’s memorizing skyline as his backdrop.

Earlier this year, Garrix was voted World’s Number 2 DJ by DJ Mag in their Top 100 list, best known for his breakout international single ‘Animals’ in 2013.

Upon release, the single climbed to No. 1 on the Beatport Top Songs Chart and held the spot for four weeks, receiving 100 million streams on Spotify and over half a billion views on YouTube.

Earlier this year, Garrix collaborated with global music star Usher on their smash single ‘Don’t Look Down’ and ‘The Only way is Up’ with mentor and friend Tiësto.

Nicolas Vandenabeele, Marketing Director of Envie Events, stated: “Last year was Martin Garrix’s debut in the Middle East, which was highly awaited by the fans in the region at Sensation Dubai 2014, where he performed in front of a sold out 15,000 fans.

“This year he is back in Dubai to headline the biggest New Years’ Eve party in the region. Meydan is the perfect venue and the show will enjoy the perfect backdrop of the world renowned Burj Khalifa NYE fireworks.”

Tickets cost Dh350 for general entry and Dh750 for the ‘VIP Table Deck’, which features fully serviced private tables with a terrace overlooking the city’s skyline and the fireworks.

Doors will open at 6pm, show starts at 7.30pm.

David Guetta at Media City

Great for: Top music, no parking hassles

Peppermint Experience returns with another NYE spectacle with Middle East favourite, David Guetta.

The EDM superstar will hit the decks for an earth shattering three-hour set at the Dubai Media Amphitheatre and ring in the New Year.

Boldly mixing electro house beats with the biggest names on the urban scene, Guetta has elevated himself from superstar DJ to rockstar and shows no signs of stopping.

Tickets available online at Platinumlist and Virgin Tickets or in store from all Virgin Megastores from Dh495 onwards.

VIP table packages available can be reserved. Doors open at 8pm.  All ticket holders must be over the age of 18 years old and carry a valid identification.

Mammootty at Global Village

Great for: Family entertainment; budget friendly

One of India’s beloved film star will ring in the New Year at Global Village, amidst a two-hour celebration, including the largest fireworks display the festive ground has ever seen.

Malayalam actor Mammootty will be the headline act as part of Global Village’s 20th anniversary celebrations, who will be joined by an array of leading Asian talent including Haricharan, Suchitra, Sayanora and Afzal.

Mammootty is expected to take to the stage at 8pm, with John Brittas hosting the event.

But the music and dance extravaganza on the main stage from 8pm to 10pm is just a part of an “amazing schedule” of New Year entertainment that is being put on, say organisers.

The Ferris Wheel at the heart of Fantasy Island will feature a giant illuminated 10-second countdown to help build the excitement to midnight, to make way for the musical fireworks display.

A Jet Ski stunt show will thrill at the Global Village Lake, followed by a special New Year's Eve parade that will wind its way through the site in the evening and finish up in front of the main stage.

Tickets to Global Village cost Dh15.

Glow Twenty 16

Great for: Asian music fans

Fans of top Asian acts, including Imran Khan, Badshah, Raftaar, Manj, Nindy Kaur and Aastha Gill, should make a beeline for Glow Twenty 16.

Organisers Gulf Techinical are offering three arenas with The Chill Out Lounge with sheesha and a view of the Burj Khalifa fireworks, of course, all with great music thrown in.

Warm up acts include nine DJs including Shadow, along with DJ Jeff, Nitesh, DJ Tushar, DJ Zubair, DJ Hani, DJ Manoj, Knox Artiste and DJ Buddha

Expect a lot of swag and Punjabi pumped up tracks.

The event is being held at the Godolphin Ballroom, Jumeirah Emirates Towers.

Tickets are priced at Dh395 for single and Dh695 for couples; available on Platinumlist.

La Petite Maison at DIFC

Great for: Decadence and indulgence

As Dubai's best-loved celebratory destination, La Petite Maison will welcome in the New Year with a decadent evening filled with Mediterranean culture and heritage, inspired by the Camargue region in southern France.

With a blend of French and Spanish influences, Camargue sits on the Mediterranean coast and is a region filled with unique architecture and wildlife including native black bulls, majestic wild white horses and gorgeous flocks of pink flamingos.

For New Year’s Eve 2015, guests will be welcomed and served by staff in flamboyant dress and the dining area will be styled with Provençal décor.

Diners are encouraged to embrace the theme with a dress code of Bodega scarlet, black and gold and will be entertained by a live DJ until 3am.

The regular à la carte menu will be available with a minimum spend of Dh1,200 per person.
