MCI, a globally integrated association, communication and event management company, is expanding its operations in Abu Dhabi, enhancing its current service offering of meetings and events and professional congress organisation to include Destination Management Services (through the Ovation Arabia brand) as well as Association Management & Consulting.

MCI is reinforcing its position as a key player in the meetings, events and association management market in the Middle East, where it has had strategic presence since 2007. Kylee Haines, Director Business Development, will head the newly strengthened Abu Dhabi entity. With 14 years of experience in the industry and having worked in the UAE since 2008, both in operations as well as sales & marketing, Kylee brings a wealth of knowledge to the role.

MCI has also been growing its client base in the region and is pleased to announce its Abu Dhabi office has been selected to host a major medical congress - the 2015 Asian Pacific Congress of Cardiology (APCC). This biennial scientific meeting represents the collegiate membership of 18 societies throughout the Asia Pacific region, and will be held in Abu Dhabi, bringing 3,000 medical specialists to the city.

It will be the first time the congress has been staged in a Middle Eastern city.

Commenting on the partnership, Sumaira Isaacs, Managing Director, MCI Middle East, India and Canada said: “MCI is growing its business in the Middle East. Strategic partnerships with key medical organisations like the APCC help us build strong regional networks. Partnering with the APCC for the organisation of their 2015 congress lets us work in close collaboration to develop new ideas and use innovation to enhance their mission”.

The Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority has a 10 year plan to have Abu Dhabi ranked in the world's top 50 meetings destinations and expects the number of business-related visitors to Abu Dhabi to reach 1.5 million in 2012.

Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of both Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority and Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, said: “The APCC is a high profile congress and a great vote of confidence in Abu Dhabi as a world-class convention centre with easy accessibility to all points throughout Asia Pacific.”

MCI participated at this year’s GIBTM, in the Abu Dhabi stand.
