Mohammed bin Zayed meets John Kerry

His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces met with the US Secretary of State John Kerry, who is currently visiting the UAE as part of a regional tour, on Sunday at Emirates Palace Sheikh Mohammed welcomed Kerry and discussed with him ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

They also reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation and strategic partnership for the interest of the peoples of the two countries.

The meeting, which was attended by Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, also touched on the latest regional developments, as well as issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Kerry briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the outcome of the 5+1talks on Iran's nuclear dossier and the progress made in the efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the issue.

Also discussed were the efforts made by the United States to encourage the Syrian National Coalition to attend Geneva 2 conference and to put an end to the ongoing conflict in Syria to alleviate the plight of the Syrian people.

Sheikh Mohammed and Kerry also discussed the efforts made by the Egyptian government in this transitional period to ensure stability and to achieve political and economic progress in Egypt.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of continuing regional and international efforts for peace, security and stability in the Middle East.

Present were Dr Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority (EAA), Yousif Mana Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the Unites States and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince'sCourt.

Present from the US side were members of the delegation accompanying the Secretary of State and Michael Corbin, US Ambassador to the UAE.
