Mohammed bin Zayed tours Kustar

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces has said the UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, attaches great importance to education as a key pillar for development.

During a visit he made on Monday to Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (Kustar) campus in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed said the progress of a nation is not measured only by education, but also by the quality and types of that education and by how research and development is impacting that progress.

Sheikh Mohammed was received at the University's campus by member of Kustar’s Board of Trustees Hussain Al Hammadi, the university President Dr Tod Laursen, the university Executive Vice-President Dr Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Provost, Dr Jay Noren, Senior Vice- President of Research Dr Mohammed Ebrahim Al-Mualla, Director of Sharjah Campus Dr Khaled Mubarak and other officials.

Sheikh Mohammed met with the university's academic leadership and students and was briefed about a number of research projects and activities. 

Interacting with the students, Sheikh Mohammed said the next stage requires an infrastructure developed on scientific basis and keeps abreast with current and future developments.

"The real investment is in the young minds on whom we can rely to achieve excellence in science and technology.

“The UAE leadership have dedicated the country's wealth and resources to build generations of skilled, capable and highly performing Emiratis."

Sheikh Mohammed's tour took him to the university's Nuclear Instrumentation and Control Laboratory(NICL), the Interactive Robots and Media Lab (IRML), the Etisalat BT Innovation Centre, Ankabut network and the virtual classroom.

Sheikh Mohammed also toured the Center for Human Movement at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Gulf Nuclear Energy Infrastructure Institute and the laboratory for simulating and mitigating disasters.

Sheikh Mohammed also reviewed the activities carried out by the students and met with the students’ teams who won awards at international designing and innovation contests.
