Mohammed inspects Dubai Parks and Resorts project; October opening

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,inspected today, the workflow of the final stages of Dubai Parks and Resort project, the largest integrated theme park destination in the Middle East.

 

The project, that cost more than Dh10 billion, is spread across 25 million square feet of land strategically located on Sheikh Zayed Road, close to the Palm Jebel Ali, between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Upon his arrival, Sheikh Mohammed viewed the plans and designs of what is to be a-first-of-its-kind entertainment tourist and family destination in the region.

The project is set to offer luxurious facilities and is anticipated to attract visitors, artists and intellectuals from around the world.

The project includes the Hollywood-inspired theme park Motiongate, Dubai Bollywood Parks and the Legoland, in addition to a water park catering to families and their children. The three-theme park is also connected to Riverland Dubai, a centrally located district of leasable retail, dining and entertainment space and hosts the Polynesian-themed hotel Lapita.

 

Chairman of Dubai Parks and Resorts Abdulla Al Habbai said the project is set to open in October 2016 as 88 per cent of the construction work and 70 per cent of utilities infrastructure is completed.

Lauding the gigantic project, Sheikh Mohammed noted that the Dubai Parks and Resorts is one of the major pillars of the tourism industry in the country that is ought to be further developed in order to boost this vital sector and attract visitors and investors alike. Sheikh Mohammed also highlighted the importance of quality and innovation - basic elements for excellence in services.

His Highness expressed his satisfaction over the project along with other hospitality projects carried out at the area close to the site of Expo 2020, noting that such plans are key success factor for Dubai Expo 2020.

Accompanying Sheikh Mohammed during his visit were Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation, Chief Executive of Emirates Group and Chairman of Dubai Expo 2020 Higher Committee Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum; Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau Reem Al Hashimy and Director of Dubai Ruler's Court and Vice-Chairman of Dubai Expo 2020 Higher Committee Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shebani, in addition to members of the Dubai Expo 2020 Director General of Dubai Municipality Hussain Nasser Lootah, Chairman of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) Hilal Saeed Al Marri, among other senior officials.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has said innovative endowment is a developmental tool to support economy and social development.

Sheikh Mohammed added, "We want societies to innovate developmental solutions to build a better and happier future for people. In one month after the launch of the global vision for endowment, the concept of innovative endowment has proved itself to make a positive impact for the society.

"Reviving endowment is not restricted on adopting the traditional endowment, we need to innovate to have a greater impact of this tool. The concept of innovative endowment, which we launched a month ago, has exceeded the limits of the traditional endowment as it is open for everyone to participate."

Sheikh Mohammed made his remarks during a briefing on the first month results achieved by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy, part of Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Initiatives.  

He praised the outcomes of the Centre in its first month through the innovative endowment which raised annual revenues of Dh503 million, equivalent to Dh6.2 billion of assets in traditional endowment. Sheikh Mohammed directed the Centre to continue receiving applications from businessmen and enterprises regardless of their size to adopt innovative endowment.
