Mohammed receives UAE envoys

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received heads of departments affiliated with the Foreign Ministry, UAE ambassadors abroad and heads of representative missions at international organisations.

The reception ceremony was held at Zabeel Palace on Saturday evening in presence of Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Sheikh Mohammed exchanged with his guests Ramadan greetings emphasising their important role in representing the UAE and playing a major role in developing ties with different countries of the world. His Highness added that the role of the Foreign Ministry, through its numerous departments, is appreciated by the wise leadership and by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who follows closely the hard work of UAE representatives.

His Highness praised the relentless efforts by exerted by Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, department directors and UAE envoys and their dedication to the advancement of the country on the international arena.

During the reception, Sheikh Mohammed directed UAE envoys abroad to boost communication channels with Emirati citizens present abroad and tend to their needs especially students, tourists, businessmen and those receiving medical treatment.

“The role of ambassadors is limited to diplomatic representation,” Sheikh Mohammed said. “Ambassadors must be true representatives of their countries as they reflect the core cultural and moral values of their heritage. Advocating acceptance, tolerance and safeguarding human values in international arenas is at the heart of their duties,” Sheikh Mohammed added.

Sheikh Mohammed praised the fine reputation of UAE envoys abroad and thanked them for serving their country and assured them that the vision of the wise leadership of the UAE is in perfect harmony with its actions. His Highness stressed that the prosperity of Emirati citizens top the priority of the UAE leadership.

“Learn from your mistakes and do not point fingers. To err is human and the wise are those who learn from their mistakes,” Sheikh Mohammed said. “We believe in our young generation. They hold the key to our development. It is with their efforts that the UAE will become one of the top countries in the world in many aspects,” His Highness added.

For their part, UAE envoys pledged to uphold the values of this beloved homeland in the international arena and represent their nation and its wise leadership. They prayed to God almighty to safeguard the United Arab Emirates, its people and leadership from any harm.

The reception was attended by Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, sheikhs and top government officials.

Sheikh Mohammed hosted an Iftar banquet in honour of his guests after performing Maghrib prayers.
