Global Village has received more than 600,000 visitors since opening on October 21 and during the first two days of Eid.

The first day of Eid alone there were more than 120,000 visitors and the second day of Eid Global Village received more than 140,000 visitors. The rising number of crowds flocked to Global Village to enjoy Eid celebrations and watch spectacular shows, fireworks, folk dances, concerts and the fabulous range of activities found at one of the leading theme parks in the region.

Accordingly, Global Village has extended its operating hours until 3am during weekends and until 2 November. This has come in alignment with the instructions of his Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on extending the Eid in Dubai Celebrations for 2 continuous  weeks this year.

The Eid Celebrations have also brought more frequent shows round the hour so children and adults can both enjoy the outing.

To better celebrate Eid, Global Village has been working in close partnership with a number of  pavilions hosting performance and setup a schedule full of events, folk shows and entertainment.

The special Eid schedule includes more than 90 daily shows and cultural activities. Many of these are taking place within the pavilions, such as the Brazilian, Jordanian, Bahraini, Egyptian, Indian, Turkish, Lebanese, Pakistani, Ukrainian and many of the participating 37 pavilions.

There are also  shows presented on the Global Village stages, like the Community Stage and World Culture Stage featuring many cultural folk groups and troupes for live performances like the Bollywood Shiamak Davar Group, the famous Polynesian Tamure group from the Cook Islands who have come to perform all the way from the South Pacific Ocean and the Emirati Folk Troupe.

What has already become one of the “must-see” attractions at this year’s Global Village is the world premiere 3D spectacular show at Global Village, and a Dubai first. This 4-minute film was especially commissioned for Global Village using the  best digital technology in the world applied to an enriching experience for visitors.

Conveying some of the vivid scenes at Global Village, the Egyptian pavilion is showcasing the  folk art and live performances of Al Ahram Art Troupe and the Egyptian Circus, Clowns and Harlequin shows which capture children’s hearts. Followed by the famous traditional Egyptian folk dance, Tanoura to keep the audience engaged.

These shows are presented five times daily and will continue to be presented during the full operational season of Global Village. Additionally, the Egyptian pavilion holds special events and mascots to interact with children including taking photos at the Studio Idris where visitors, children or adults can look like ancient Egyptians by wearing the costumes of the Pharaohs.

Legendary Egyptian diva Um Kalthoum is also featured in a video that gives the feel of walking down the very tiny alleys of Egypt. The decoration is enriched with the feel of Khan Al Khalili, one of the bustling centers of old Egyptian lanes. With Egyptian cotton sheets, handcrafted accessories and handmade gift items on display, and a large number of products and industries showcased, any visitor will not be able to evade the shopping temptation.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian pavilion has made its debut at Global Village this season. The folk band playing within the pavilion tells the story of Latin Americans, and the aroma of grilled Brazilian meat is the first thing a visitor senses. Next is the Brazilian Crepe, whether it’s filled with chocolate, cheese or banana, it’s worth tasting.  Fresh from Brazil, fruits are imported so visitors can enjoy the ‘Amazon taste’. If visitors are unfamiliar with the ingredients of the fresh juices served, it’s simply the Accai, Guarana, acerola, and much more.

The pavilion also showcases a unique selection of “Made in Brazil” items and the stunning Golden Grass captures the eyes. The glittering gold grass is made in bangles, earrings and varied accessories, clock watches, hats and breath-taking baskets. More special food is on offer in the form of homemade cookies from Granma Elza with her secret recipe and flavours varying  in flavor and range from the Amazon flavor, passion fruit, orange to the famous Brazilian cashew and nuts.

All part of Eid crème Della crop offerings, the Pakistani pavilion hosted the famous Pakistani brothers Jamshed and Naveed Ali, for a live performance on the World Culture Stage at Global Village. The performance attracted the huge number of crowds from the Pakistani pavilion for authentic folk performances.

This season, Global Village management has poured a lot of its efforts to provide better client services to its visitors. With a prolonged season of 161 days, the theme park enjoys more than 26 restaurants and 160 kiosks vending food, drinks, fresh goodies, aesthetic handcrafts and some unique products. In addition to hosting 37 pavilions representing more than 65 countries.
