Motorists beware: Dust, sand to blow across UAE

Sea also to get rough at times

The weather across the UAE will continue to remain hazy during the day as the Met Department warns residents of dust and sand blowing, similar to during the past 48 hours.

A forecast by the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology says cloud cover could increase over some of the eastern and internal areas by afternoon.

Temperatures will range between 36°C to 45°C in coastal areas including Dubai and Sharjah.

Internal areas will see a maximum temperature ranging between 45°C to 49°C.

“The winds will be moderate in general, freshening at times causing blowing dust/sand, reducing horizontal visibility , especially over the internal areas. Sea will be moderate to rough at times,” the forecast added.

Heavy dust caused by strong winds has kicked up enough sand into the atmosphere that it has resulted in dust cloud over most of the coastal and internal areas across the country.

“What you see over Dubai and Sharjah today is a continuation of similar weather conditions that was seen. It feels like it is cloudy.

"But, it is actually severe dust caused by strong wind which is common during this time of the year,” said a forecaster at the NCMS.
