Mystery surrounds body found at UAE-Oman border

A body found by Dubai police near the border with Oman this week is not for a missing Emirati man and authorities suspect a murder could have been committed.

The media had earlier reported that the body was for Nassir Ali Nassir, a 21-year-old Dubai resident who has been missing since  Eid Al Adha holiday last week.

Police later arrested two friends who claimed Nassir had died and that they had dumped his body in the border area as they were under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

“Examination showed the body is not for Nassir…it is for another young man and we are investigating a possible murder,” Dubai’s CID chief Brigadier Khalil Al Mansoori said, quoted by the Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum.

Mansoori said the two could not give an exact location where they dumped the presumed body of Nassir, saying they could not remember what exactly happened.

He said the two, both Emiratis, face several charges including causing the death of another person, dumping his body and holding information on a possible murder.

“Forensic examination could lead to a new murder and the two could be involved in killing Nassir,” he said.
