National Paint project Phase II begins next week

The UAE Ministry of Public Works will launch Phase II of National Paint Roundabout development work next week. The project will include work on the intersection of Sharjah Ring Road with Emirates Road apart from roads linking Dubai, reported 'Al Ittihad'.

New drainage system to dispose rain water will also be taken up. The estimated cost of the project is Dh1billion, said Dr Abdullah Belheef Al Nuaimi Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works.

"The ministry has completed the first phase of the preliminary work for the project," he said.

The project is undertaken as per the directives of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Dr Abdullah said once the work begins next week more alternative lanes will be opened to facilitate easy traffic flow.

Development of Emirates Road is essential as it has become a lifeline linking various emirates, he added.

Meanwhile, Dr Abdullah said, the rail project is part of the transport infrastructure in the country, to promote integration between different means of transportation.
