Dubai petrol store alert

Petrol stations in different Emirates have been erecting strong fencing outside their convenient stores parking to protect the shops, especially the fragile glass exterior.

Senior managers revealed to Emirates 24|7 that recently three vehicles have rammed into different convenient stores in Deira, Bur Dubai and Sharjah smashing the glass fencing and destroying part of the store.

“We were advised to erect a strong fencing of concrete pillars in front of the stores to prevent such bizarre accidents during parking.

“Three of our stores were  partially damaged and their glass walls destroyed by crazy drivers who had rammed into the stores. There is parking in front of the convenient stores and in three four cases, drivers have rammed into the store by pushing the accelerator, instead of the brake pedal,” an EPPCO manager said

“Three accidents happened in our stores in Deira, Sharjah and Jumeirah. In all the three cases, the driver who was trying to park in front of the convenient store rammed into the shops after mistakenly pressing the accelerator pedal instead of brake pedal,” he added.

“The distance between the glass fencing and the parking area is not very wide and the driver tends to ram into the store. All the stores have fragile glass walls,” said the manager of another petrol station in Deira.
