New ambulances for overweight in UAE

General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior has attended the launch of a fleet of new ambulance vehicles dedicated for serving pregnant women, newborns and overweight people.

In addition to the standard paramedic equipment and transport-related safety tools, the new ambulances for overweight people are fitted with  hydraulic winches and other devices and are painted in red stripes for easy identification, said Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Head of the Emergency and Public Safety Department, General Directorate of Central Operations, Abu Dhabi Police.

The 'motherhood and childhood' ambulances, which also serve premature newborns, have specially-designed beds, incubators and other neonatal care units for pregnant ladies and neonatal babies, and are painted in pink stripes, Lieutenant Colonel Al Ameri added.

During the launch ceremony at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan familiarised himself with the new ambulance vehicles.

In his remarks during the ceremony, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed reiterated the UAE leadership's interest in providing all services to the public.
He also gave directives to Abu Dhabi Police ambulance teams for maintaining rapid paramedic response and life support for patients while they are being taken to hospitals.

Senior police officers attended the launch ceremony of the new service.
