New crash on Sheikh Zayed Road; gridlock

UPDATE: Dubai Police has confirmed a 'major' accident on Sheikh Zayed Road, near the 8th Interchange, heading northbound around 12.30pm.

The authority posted on its official Twitter account: "A major accident on Sheikh Zayed Road from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, before Jabal Ali Port.

A second accident has also been reported on Al Ittihad Road, in front of the Dubai Police Headquarters, causing a gridlock there.

Morning accidents

A van had reportedly tipped over on Airport Road, heading into Dubai, causing chaos and a traffic gridlock for morning commuters.

Another accident has also been reported near the National Paints bridge, where a silver Nissan Patrol has crashed into the central divider, heading towards Ajman.

Dubai Police tweeted details of the incident near the airport, saying: “An accident causing congestion on Airport Road from Bin Sougat signal toward Emirates.”

Dubai traffic also tweeted: “Accident on Airport Road heading into Dubai. A van has tipped over in the middle of the road. Please drive safe.”

Dubai Police also confirmed an accident on Nad Al Hamar Street, after the airport bridge.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness told Emirates 24|7 that the accident on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed saw the silver Nissan Patrol’s rear tyre come off the car after it crashed into the central divider.

While authorities are already on the scene, this is leading to jams on both sides of the road near Sharjah Industrial Area.

Access around Maliha Road and Sharjah Ring Road is clogged with slow moving jams, as is Industrial Area 5.
