New Dubai Guinness record? Largest Flower Flag

In preparation to hosting the Expo 2020, the Public Parks and Horticulture Department of Dubai Municipality announced that the department is in full preparation to transform Dubai into one of the most beautiful cities of the world beautifying the city through excellent designs in gardening, landscaping and afforestation.

‘Dubai has already achieved Guinness Book record in using flowers and plants to design the logos of international events hosted by the city of Dubai in different occasions, said Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Awadi, head of agriculture section at Dubai Municipality.

‘The department has written welcome banners  for visitors to the city in both Arabic and English on many occasions including but not limited to the first grass design at the roundabout of commercial center in 1986 on the occasion of Chess Olympiad in Dubai, which included ‘Welcome to Dubai’ in Arabic and English with logo of Olympics using plants, Horse Race roundabout in Nad Al Sheba, Flowers roundabout in Al Saif street, Expo 2020 logo in UAE flag in Al Garhoud intersection, Expo2020 logo in green area of Al Rebat road opposite Toyota showroom…etc,’ he said.

‘The design and implementation of UAE flag was on an area of 2026 m2 using 45,660 seedlings of different flower plants. The expo2020 logo was designed by a special team from agricultural section in 908 m2 using 27,240 seedlings of various coloured flowers,’ he explained.

‘The section is planning to design and implement 43 UAE flags in the main locations of the city to mark the 43rd National Day of UAE aiming to achieve a Guinness record in the category of largest flower flag.
