A new green school is opening its gate to expatriate students on Thursday morning and second part in the first week of May 2014.

The Habitat Indian School, which was announced earlier, is ready with a green campus spanning 10 acres of land and the unique campus has been completed within 173 days, the school Chairman, Shaikh Sultan Bin Saqer Al Nuaimi announced.

Two thousand students from 15 nationalities and different Emirates have joined the new school in Ajman, an Emirate which is witnessing a shortage of school seats, after a number of families are reportedly relocating to the northern Emirate due to skyrocketing rent in Dubai and Sharjah.

The 2000 students already enrolled in the school are mainly from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

The school, planned as a a new model of schooling for the expatriate families, starts classes for 1st - VIII students on April 17th, for K.G II on 1st May and for KG I on May 4th.

Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Shamsu Zaman, CT, Managing Director, Habitat School said: “We have opened admission only twenty days ago after completing the building and we are reaching 2000 students now. The students are coming from different Emirates including Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and a number of transfer certificates are issued from schools in other Emirates.”

He said the second phase of the school will add 2000 more students by September 2014 and by next academic year, the total number of students will reach 6000.

The new school with 100,000 squre feet built up area in 10 acres land has many sports and extra curricular activities including a swimming pool, indoor football ground, 100 meter synthetic track, an organic farm and green area.

The new school is started by the management of Indian International School Ajman.

SCHOOL FEES:

The school charges Dh500 per month for KG to 2nd Standard, Dh550 per month for Grade Three to Six and Dh600 for Grades 7 and 8, Shamsu added.

He said some students are relocating to the new school after seeing the campus ambiance. “There is a shortage of school seats in Ajman. We are receiving new families from abroad, families shifting from other Emirates. We cannot accommodate new students in our existing school, the Ajman International Indian School,” he added.

“From the admission trend, we can say that a number of families are relocating to Ajman, due to high rent in Dubai and Sharjah. We have received a number of students with Transfer Certificates issued from schools in other Emirates. Our transport also covers Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain,” added the school principal Jisha Jayan.

“Conceived with the idea that a school should be able to take care of all aspects of a child’s education – be that academic, cultural, psychological, social or health related, the school is preparing an organic farm for agricultural activities, a cyber square for computer programming, smart classes, sessions for art training, facility to study languages such as Arabic, Hindi, Malayalam, Bangla and Tamil,” said Adil CT - Academic Director of Habitat Indian School.

The school project cost Dh50 million and the land for the new school is granted by the Government of Ajman.

There are 150 employees, including 100 teachers. Prestige Contracting Company has completed the school project which was started in October 2013.

The entrepreneurs and academicians behind Habitat School is planning new ventures in education field.
