New policy to improve appearance of shops

Abu Dhabi’s Urban Planning Council (UPC) unveiled on Wednesday a new policy for improving the appearance of shops in the emirate.

The policy will be implemented with the co-operation of the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi.

UPC aims to improve the facades of buildings and shops, as well as advertising signboards.

The new set of rules will also reduce the use of public places to display and store commercial goods.

Executive Director for Planning and Infrastructure at UPC Amer Al Hammadi said that the new policy is in accordance with Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 which call for improving the appearance of shops in the emirate.
