New UAE stamp to honour country's heroes

As part of various activities organised to honour the heroes who sacrificed their lives to serve the country, and in line with the first UAE Commemoration Day, the Emirates Post Group joined hands with The Martyrs' Families' Affairs Office at the at Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court to issue the first postage stamp as a tribute to the country's heroes.  
 
This initiative is part of the activities marked by the office in cooperation with all government and private agencies and individuals in the country to honour the sacrifice and heroism of the martyrs who serve as a role model for present and future generations.
 
The new stamp represents the values of respect, appreciation, honour, courage and loyalty and highlights the pride the United Arab Emirates takes in the sacrifices of the heroes of the nation.
 
The stamp that carries the slogan ‘Commemoration Day’ will be available at all post offices as of November 30.
 
"Emirates Post Group is proud to issue the first postage stamp and postage card carrying the distinctive Commemoration Day logo. This marks our expression of gratitude and appreciation to the families of the national heroes, who are the sons of the entire UAE society and deserve all the honour for their ultimate sacrifices. On this occasion the stamps will be distributed to all postal areas in the country," Ibrahim Bin Karam, Executive Commercial Director, Emirates Post Group, said.

Central Bank to issue commemorative silver coin

The Central Bank of the UAE has said that it will issue a commemorative silver coin on the occasion of Commemoration Day (Martyrs' Day), which will be celebrated tomorrow (Monday).

The bank in a statement has said that in appreciation of decision of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to declare November 30 of each year as Martyrs' Day to commemorate and express gratitude to "our heroic martyrs and dutiful sons", who have made the ultimate sacrifice in order to protect their country and ensure that the UAE flag continues to fly high. 

The bank says that in order to contribute to the occasion, the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of the UAE has decided to issue a commemorative silver coin. The face of the coin will depict the official logo of the occasion, and the obverse will depict the UAE official logo surrounded by the UAE name in both Arabic and English, in addition to the date, November 30.

The Central Bank will shortly announce the date of launch of the coin.
