Nirvana in Dubai: Your exclusive tour aboard the longest super-yacht on show

She’s 88.5-meters-long. And undoubtedly, the longest super yacht to ever make a debut on the Dubai waters.

That exclusivity alone won her a special spot among the media, as we waited long hours on a sunny Tuesday morning, just to get a sneak peek of the majestic beast ahead of the official opening of the 22nd Dubai International Boat Show at Mina Seyahi.

Docked at the stunning Marina waters, Nirvana effortlessly overshadowed the rest of the fleet on display with her sheer magnitude and style.

A helicopter perched on its helipad added the much needed punch and glamour to its personality.

As we walked on the deck of the super-yacht, which we were told was launched in 2012, we were welcomed by swimming pool lined by sun beds on either side.

The sliding doors to the main entrance were closed shut, as the men-in-charge gave us the lowdown on Nirvana.

Built by Oceanco and exhibited by Edminston, the Nirvana is touted to be among the world’s top 50 longest super yachts.

Priced at € 230million (around Dh1.16billion), she awaits a buyer.

“She’s the largest and the most expensive currently on the second-hand sales market,” announced the spokesperson from Edminston.

Nirvana is crafted using the world’s most exquisite materials and features two helipads, six decks, a stage for live performances, a 12-seat 3D cinema, 8 jet skis, and more. There are diving kits for 12 people and an incredible line of equipment for water sports.

It has a range of 6,800 nautical miles, a maximum speed of 19.5 knots and can accommodate 12 guests in six cabins and 27 crew.

He added that she has already generated a few interests and they are optimistic of finding a buyer in the region. “This is where we think a larger yacht would sell.”

The region, he said, showed a lot of promise and growth.

“The asking price is just an indicator. Often, sales in this region would show 10 per cent lesser than the asking price, give or take.”

While Nirvana enjoys rarity on the Dubai waters, the official clarified that the largest yacht in the world is 160-metres-long, that’s “twice the size of this yacht”.

He concedes that “Nirvana is not unique in size, she’s quite unique in style”.

The yacht has travelled from the South of France to the Dubai waters, and “she’s carrying on down the Maldives. It just gives you an idea of the scope for a yacht of this size. It can travel anywhere in the world. It has a trans-pacific range”.

The official takes us into the main salon, which he indicates turns from a relaxing lounge during the day into a fun, discotheque in the night.

“There are built-in speakers, disco lights on all corners, and the roof slides open. This deck turns into a party deck.”

He, then escorts us into the dining area, which centres a big, oval table and a dozen chairs around it.

Two glassed walls on either side of the table houses a chameleon and a turtle.

A tiny relaxing area later, we spot the silver engraved elevator that services all decks.

Next up is the row of guest cabins that are coloured in shades of grey and brown and boasts of floor to ceiling windows, and plush interiors.

The rest of the yacht, we were told, is restricted to the prospective owner.

The 22nd Dubai International Boat Show will run until March 8 at the Dubai International Marine Club, and will be open for trade visitors and the public between 3pm and 9.30pm. The entry fee is Dh60.

The show will display 430 boats, including 19 super yachts. It will also feature 16 UAE-based boat builders, and nine yachts built in the UAE.

The maritime sector in Dubai contributes Dh14.4 billion to the emirate’s GDP, according to the organisers.
