Nissan, Infinity recall in UAE

Several new models of Nissan’s Pathfinder and Infinity’s JX would be recalled due to a faulty brake torque.

The Ministry of Economy made this announcement today through an advertisement in the local media. However, authorised distributors in Dubai said they were not aware of any such recall.

In an announcement, the Ministry of Economy said the decision to recall has been taken jointly by Nissan Middle East FZE and the Ministry of Economy – Consumer Protection Department.

The recall campaign is meant for certain vehicles of 2013 Nissan Pathfinder and Infinity JX.

The cause of the recall for both models are the same.

“A concern has been identified in the manufacturing process of the front brake torque member. This condition causes a structural weakness in the part, which can lead to development of cracks during vehicle operation,” the announcement says.

Customers who own a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder with a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) ranging between 5N1AR2M*DC625872 to 632206 are requested to have their vehicles inspected and repaired.

Similarly 2013 Nissan Infiniti JX with a VIN ranging between 5N1ALOMM*DC330858 to 335422 should also be taken for inspection and repair.

“So far we have not been intimated about any recall. Please leave your contact details and we will get back to you,” said an official at Al Masaood Automobiles, official dealers in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. An official at Arabian Automobiles also repeated the same statement.

Meanwhile, last week Chrysler Group announced several of its vehicles would be recalled in the US for various mechanical faults.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs of 2005 to 2010 models and Jeep Commander SUVs of 2006 to 2010 models are being recalled for an electrical failure in the transfer case which can lead to the unintentional shift into neutral, which could cause vehicles to roll away.

A total of 295,345 vehicles are being recalled.

Chrysler is also recalling 2008 to 2012 Jeep Wranglers with right-hand drive for problems with the airbag.

The problem can prevent the driver-side frontal airbag from deploying in case of a crash. About 5,440 Wranglers are being recalled.

But Trading Enterprises, official dealers of Jeep in the UAE, said no vehicles in the country are being affected.
