No credit card fees in paying traffic fines

Credit card holders will no longer bear any fees when paying for driving fines or other traffic police services under a new agreement signed by the Abu Dhabi traffic police and a key bank in the emirate.

The agreement exempts all credit card users from tax or any other extra expenses on their cards in payment for fines, car registration, renewal of driving license and other services offered by the traffic police in the emirate.

“This agreement is intended to facilitate services offered by Abu Dhabi traffic police to the public in line with a decree by the Abu Dhabi Executive Council,” said Major General Khalil Badran, director of the finance and services department at the Abu Dhabi police.

Badran made the comment after signing the agreement with the government-controlled National Bank of Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
