What’s coming up at the landmark Hard Rock Cafe site, which is under demolition, on Sheikh Zayed Road?

Rumours have been doing round that a mixed-use skyscraper will come up at the prime land as Tameer, the owner of the plot, has expertise in building tallest residential towers.

The developer has for now put the speculation to rest.

“We are surfacing the land to have a leveled plot,” a Tameer executive told Emirates 24l7.

No details were given on what Tameer plans to construct on the plot.

Tameer has developed the 414-metre Princess Tower, which is the world’s tallest residential tower and 381-metre Elite Residence the third tallest on the list.

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has said that the UAE is ranked third on the list of countries having most buildings taller than 200 metres.

In Dubai alone, there are 65 buildings over 200 metres with the maximum being on the Sheikh Zayed Road corridor, the council data reveals.

The Hard Rock Café, which is one of the oldest in the city, was established in December 1997. Residents remember the point as the border of Dubai, before starting of freehold Dubai developments.

The cafe has now relocated to Dubai Festival City. It covers an area of 2,700 square meters, offers two Rock Shops, a stage for live performances, a private VIP function room, a separate lounge adjacent to the bar, an outdoor terrace and seat 350 guests, according to the company website.
