Nol cards can be used on inter-city bus routes

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently activated the Nol cards in inter-city buses, allowing UAE residents and visitors to use the cards for travel between the emirates.

Adel Shakri, Director of Transportation Systems at the RTA’s Public Transport Agency, said: “RTA has recently started to activate the use of Nol unified payment cards in public buses between Dubai and Sharjah.”

“The Public Transport Agency is currently conducting final preparations to implement this service on all other routes that connect Dubai with the other emirates,” Shakri added.

He said inter-city public buses run 900 trips daily on 12 routes that connect Dubai with the other emirates and carry more than 35,000 passengers daily, while the seven routes that connect Dubai with Sharjah transport 17,000 passengers. The Dubai-Sharjah route account for about 50 per cent of inter-city bus passengers.
