The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched an e-service for motorists to buy four and five-digit license plates.
An official statement quoted Mohammed Abdul Kareem Nimaat, Director of RTA’s Vehicles Licensing Department as saying the online service currently has about 6,000 plates, 1,000 of them for two-wheelers, on offer.
He said the prices of these numbers featured on RTA’s website are available for prices ranging from Dh1,000 to Dh3,000. An additional Dh610 will be charged to process each transaction.
Motorists intending to make a purchase can pay by credit card and the number will be immediately downloaded to the buyer’s traffic file. This allows the customer to get the license plate made at the centres authorised by RTA. The buyer will also get an ownership certificate for each number plate bought.
