Sharjah buses: Top up smart card on board

Commuters who travel by bus in the emirate of Sharjah are able to top up their Sayer card in the bus by providing the required top-up charge in cash to the driver.

The new payment option, started yesterday, is expected to make it easier to travel with the smart card, as previously top up facilities were limited.

With the onboard top-up facility, passengers can top up their Sayer card on the go, by simply providing the desired top up amount to the driver.

The top up amount should be provided in the exact amount, as no change will be available.

The facility is now available in any Mowasalat city bus, and provides an alternative to the regular cash payment, where the trip is paid without the involvement of the Sayer card.

Checking in with the Sayer card has its advantages, with a discount being the most interesting.

When checking in with the Sayer card the bus trip becomes 10 per cent cheaper. For example, when a bus fare is Dh5 in cash money, it will cost Dh4.5 when paying by Sayer card.

The Sayer card can be personalised with the benefit that when the card is lost the value can be retained on the replacement card.

Registration for a Sayer card can be done on www.mowasalat.ae or at one of the sales outlets of the bus network.
