Now top up Dubai Salik from your mobile phone

Managing your Salik account is now easier than ever before, with the launch of a dedicated Smart Salik App.

The new application was launched together with 4 other new apps in an effort to isolate some popular services under the general RTA application and turn them into purpose-specific apps.

With the services available on the smart phone, users can now top up and drive away.

You will not be the first one if you wasted a Dh50 Salik recharge card by inserting the wrong recharge code, or missing a star in the sequence of symbols that are required to provide you a valid trip on one of the many Salik roads.

A trip to the retail outlet is no longer needed, however. With the option of the mPay payment method available on the app, the top up can be realised from the ease of the smartphone. “The effect of the recharge is immediate, so the driver can cross the Salik gate right away,” said Abdulla Al Madani, CEO of the Corporate Technical Support Services Sector at the RTA.

mPay is an existing payment channel where users insert their credit or debit card details and thereby enable card payment through the channel were the payment method is adopted. People can opt to insert their details for every single transaction, or make an account, so the details are saved where the payment option is available.

But also when the recharge card is used, topping up the Salik account will become a little easier through the application. Available for both the Salik Top up card and the recently introduced eVoucher,  the app enables the smartphone camera to take a snapshot of the top up card number and the system will read the number and process it automatically, explained Abdullah Al Bastaki, Director of Information Technology at the RTA.

In total, the app offers 9 services, including the display of Salik trips made over a certain period, balance inquiry; viewing all Salik offences or displaying unpaid trips, which will change into fines in case of insufficient balance.

Customers can create their Salik account through the app, add vehicles to their account and inquire about vehicles via the Salik tag number or vehicle number plate.

The app is available on Android and iPhone and will soon become available on Blackberry too.
