PIO card conversion to OCI extended

The Consulate General of India announced that conversion of PIO card (Persons of Indian Origin Card) to OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) is extended to June 30.

According to the circular issued by the Consulate, special camps will be held across the emirate to facilitate the conversion.

The Indian Association Sharjah will be held on April 1 and April 22, and Indian Association Ajman will be on April 8 and April 29.

The special camp at Indian Relief Committee in Ras Al Khaimah will be on May 15, and on May 6 at Indian Social Centre, Fujairah.

PIO card holders can seek assistance of officers for the conversion, and can approach the respective associations for more information.

The officers added that the conversion of PIO to OCI is free of charge, with a service charge of Dh6 per card.

Documents required for conversion of PIO to OCI card are:
a.      One set of application along with documents
b.      2 50x50mm photographs with light/blue background not white.
c.      Proof of present citizenship i.e., Present passport copy, residence visa copy, emirates ID
d.      Copy of PIO card (first & last page)

Before submitting the application online the applicant should upload the following documents:
a)      Photograph (Size 50x50mm photographs with light/blue background not white)
b)      Signature
c)      Left hand thumb impression (minors)
d)      Present passport copy with Residence visa
e)      PIO copy (first and last page)
