An old Arab man was found dead in his car near Jebel Ali in Dubai and police suggested that he could have been saved had an Asian passer-by realised the old man was seeking his help when he shouted for him.

Dubai Police on Friday published a statement on their Twitter page appealing for public help to locate a Nissan Altima which they said would help solve an issue under investigation although they did not give details of that issue.

An Asian man responded and called the police to tell them that he saw the car parked near a bridge on a motorway in Jebel Ali area and that the man, in his 60s, had tried to speak to him two days ago but that he could not understand Arabic or English.

Police issued the appeal in response to a report from the dead man’s relatives that he had been missing for two days and they fear he could have had a heart attack while driving his Altima car as he was suffering from heart problems.

“Police went to where the Asian guides them and found the car…they found the Arab man dead inside his car and forensic examination showed he had a heart attack while he was driving,” the Arabic language daily Al Khaleej said.

It quoted a police source as saying the unnamed Asian man who was investigated later said that he was stopped by the Arab man two days ago near that bridge but that he could not understand what he was saying to him.

“The deceased was apparently seeking help from that man but he could not communicate with him…we call on the public to be more cooperative in such cases as they should call the police immediately if they cannot offer help,” the source said.
