Old lady evicted from Dubai hotel for 'bad' smell from room

A hotel in Dubai had to call the police after it failed to persuade an old Arab woman to let its workers clean her room for nearly two months, causing a bad smell and scaring away many of its guests, according to police.

A unit of the emirate’s tourism security entered the woman’s room and got a shock when they found that waste was littered all over the room, the mattress was folded and taken off the floor and bad smell pervaded their nostrils just as they were let in.

The cops found that the woman was suffering from depression following the death of her husband and tried to take her to the hospital to ensure she was not suffering from any health problems. But she adamantly refused, prompting the cops again to persuade her to check out at the hotel’s insistence although she was paying on time.

“It was a very difficult task. In the end, our men managed to have the woman check out as the hotel insisted on her departure after many guests left because of the bad smell,” said Colonel Mohammed Al Muhairi, director of the tourism security department.
