Rebat Road and Emirates Road see majority of accidents

One person has died and 23 people were left injured following five motor accidents in Dubai in the past few days.

According to Director of Dubai Traffic Police, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, the deceased was a young Emirati, who on Monday afternoon was driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser, which overturned along Rebat Road on his way to Festival City Centre.

“Also in a 7am accident on Emirates Road a Toyota minibus flipped over, leaving 16 people, all of them Asians, with minor injuries,” Al Zafeen said.

In another accident, a Toyota Corolla ran over a person who escaped with injuries, on Emirates Road near Mirdif City Centre in the direction of Abu Dhabi at around 1pm.

Also on Rebat Road, two vehicles, a Nissan Patrol and a pick-up, and a cyclist were involved in a Friday morning accident that left the cyclist injured.

“It occurred because of over speeding,” said the traffic chief.

On Saturday morning, at 8am, two vehicles collided in the junction of Tunis and Algiers roads. One person was seriously injured and two others sustained moderate injuries. The police officers, led by the Warrant Officer, Hassan Al Zaabi and Ahmad Maroof rushed to the scene.
