The UAE’s top court fined a man Dh10,000 after he was found guilty of insulting a woman with obscene words online, newspapers reported on Tuesday.
The prosecutor has accused the unnamed man of making online remarks that ‘hurt the woman’s dignity and honour’ and demanded tough punishment against him.
A court earlier found the man guilty and fined him Dh10,000, prompting him to appeal the verdict.
The prosecutor then resorted to the Federal Supreme Court which upheld that sentence.
