Open hiring day at Jumeirah Group on Jan 8

Huge number expected as the group plans to hire hundreds of employees

Jumeirah Group, which operates a number of luxury hotels in Dubai, is on recruitment drive to hire hundreds of employees for its new five-star hotel on the Palm Island.

The group is recruiting staffers for various operations for Jumeirah Zabeel Saray hotel which is opening this month. A Jumeirah Group spokesperson told this website that there will be 1,100 employees to manage the new property.

The hotel is recruiting staff to run front office to F&B kitchen, F&B service, housekeeping, engineering, technicians and spa operations.

The hotel will hold an open recruitment day on Saturday, January 8th, at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray between 10am to 4pm, according to an advertisement in the local newspapers.

Jumeirah Group was appointed last month by Zabeel Properties, a subsidiary of Zabeel Investments, to manage the property.

With 405 rooms and 38 opulent villas inspired by the heyday of the Ottoman empire, the property features hand-painted frescoes, Turkish artworks and lavish murals. At the heart of the property is a 42-room spa, to be operated by inhouse subsidiary Talise. At 8,000 square metres, it is believed to be the largest spa in the region.

The group has already begun marketing rooms at the beachside resort, with launch prices on its website beginning from Dh1,500 ++ per night.

January will also see the opening of the emirate’s second Ritz-Carlton hotel http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/jan-opening-for-new-ritz-carlton-dubai-2010-12-06-1.325688, situated in the Dubai International Financial Centre.

Industry players believe that the UAE hospitality sector will generate genuine career opportunities for UAE nationals and expatriates.

According to industry estimates, approximately 120,000 new jobs will be created this year with the opening of 244 hotels containing 55,000 rooms.

Since when does hiring 1100 people equal hiring 50?

I remember the days, a couple or years ago, when a firm hiring 200 didn't make the media bat an eyelid. A large hotel chain hiring 50 staffers makes it nowadays. Such are the times we live in!
