Opinion is almost equally divided among poll respondents about the efficacy of the so-called aphrodisiacs and potency enhancing herbs and drugs that are selling fast over the counter in Dubai and the region.

However, those who have tried it but were not really convinced about the results have a slight edge over those who swear in the product's effectiveness.

Emirates 24|7 had reported Tuesday on the booming business in aphrodisiacs and potency products in the souqs and the more modern Dragon Mart in International City in Dubai.

Products range from the usual elixirs claiming to provide size enhancement, dependable erections and staying power to even breast enhancing soaps.

A fifth of the respondents to the Emirates 24|7 Poll said they have bought and used potency products and were delighted by the results. They are likely to be repeat users.

However, just more than a quarter of the respondents said they felt disappointed - if not outright cheated - by the so-called virility drugs.

Surprisingly, poll respondents were also equally divided over the use of the medications with 47 per cent saying that they have tried them out at least once and another 47 per cent boasting that they haven't, as they did not need them.

A disarmingly truthful 7 per cent admitted that they may have wanted to buy the products, but were too shy to shop for them openly.

Poll: Have you ever bought potency products?

Yes I have and the results were amazing - 20 %

Yes, but I was somewhat disappointed - 27 %

No, I am too shy to buy them openly - 7 %

No, I do not need them - 47 %
