More than 500 global brands in weaponry and equipment manufacturing from over 30 countries will be showcasing their latest products at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex) 2010, which starts in the capital on September 22, organisers announced on Saturday.

The four-day annual extravaganza will bring together companies active in hunting, safari, weaponry, falconry, equestrian and outdoor sporting equipment and technologies. As an integral part of Abu Dhabi's annual event calendar, Adihex is dedicated to bringing alive UAE's deep rooted traditions in an unmatched synergy of cultural heritage, environment conservation and modern technology.

In a validation of the event's continuing success in attracting VIP visitors and connoisseurs of hunting and weaponry, over 75 per cent of exhibitors from the 2009 edition have rebooked for this year's event.

"The high level of returning exhibitors is reflective of the great networking opportunity and unique commercial leads offered by ADIHEX, regionally and internationally," said Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Event Director of Adihex and Director of Communication department at Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach).

"As every other year, the latest edition of Adihex will also see the very latest in hunting, equestrian and outdoor sporting equipment. Additionally, some exhibitors are keen on showcasing bespoke wares, specially designed for connoisseurs from the region. We believe this year's exhibition will be especially interesting for both buyers and visitors at the show," he said.

Miniature Arsenal, the Moscow-based miniature firearm manufacturer, is exhibiting its entire weapons collection outside Russia for the first time at Adihex 2010.

"Since the establishment of our company in 2005, we have been participating in Adihex as the most important Middle East gun and hunting exhibition," says Dimitry Streshinsky, founder and owner of Miniature Arsenal.

Sweden-based VO Gun & Rifle Maker, the company that produces some of the world's most exclusive handmade rifles for hunting and collection, will showcase its limited edition of high-end weaponry specifically designed for Adihex 2010.

"We have developed and designed a special edition of five exclusive rifles called The VO Falcon Edition, as a tribute to the deep rooted hunting traditions in the Arabian world," says Master Gunsmith Viggo Olsson, founder of VO, which has been an exhibitor at Adihex since 2005.

International weaponry distributor, MP3, another loyal exhibitor at Adihex, will occupy the largest exhibition space in the weaponry arena, while International Golden Group, a leading defence product and system supplier in the UAE, which closed deals in excess of Dh200 million at Adihex 2009, will be among key exhibitors returning at Adihex 2010.

"Adihex is an exquisite platform and we always bring our best wares to the show, in line with the preferences of our clientele in this region. This year, we will be displaying 10 of our masterpieces, including Liwa, our latest innovation in the hi-tech rifles category," said Khamis Hamarain, Managing Director of MP3 international.

Adihex 2010 will also see national pavilions from France, Germany, and Tanzania, which will be exhibiting unique attractions from their respective countries.

A daily quiz competition has started last Thursday on Emirate FM in collaboration with Adach. As part of the competition, listeners have an opportunity to win a range of exciting prizes by correctly answering a question related to Adihex and Emirati heritage.

The grand prize for the competition is a buggy, while participants also have an opportunity to win cash prizes of Dh30,000, daggers worth over Dh1,500, paintball sessions as well as caricature drawings. The competition will run daily on Emirate FM until the end of Adihex 2010.

Adihex 2010 is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's representative in Al Gharbia (the Western Region) of Abu Dhabi, President of the Emirati Falconers Club, with support from Adach and the Organisation of the Emirates Falconers Club.

The exhibition is co-sponsored by leading corporate organisations including Abu-Dhabi Sports Council, Invest AD, HSBC, Bonyan, Wathba Stud Farm and Areej Al Ameerat.
