New parking zones are being introduced across several locations in Dubai and signboards indicating this have sprung up in several residential localities.

New parking boards were installed over the weekend in these locations and according to a Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) staff, parking metres will be installed during the coming week and will go 'live' starting next month.

"We started installing the signboards last week.

"A total of 1,500 parking units across various locations are being newly converted to paid parking lots," said one RTA staff.

According to him apart from Dubai Silicon Oasis, parking lots in Al Barsha 1 and in other areas in Bur Dubai and Deira are included.

Earlier this year, RTA restructured the parking system across the emirate introducing new zones and increasing the fee of some of the new zones.

A total of six zones were added with C, D, E and F added to the existing A and B zones.
