Plan to upgrade technical equipment at airports

The UAE has 8 international airports and has adopted plans to upgrade the technical equipment at all  airports, so it can analyse, ease inspection measures and facilitate the movement of passenger, according to  Brigadier General Ahmad Mohammed Bin Thani, Director General of Public Administration to the security of the  airports in Dubai Police.

He was speaking at the opening session of the two-day debut conference on Border Control, Airport and  Seaport Security (BCASS) that launched its first session on Monday. The conference is under the patronage of  Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works and President of the Higher Committee for UAE  Civil Seaports and Airports Security. It was attended by Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Kumar Kibble, Deputy Director, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, USA, stressed the importance of  international cooperation in the investigation of crimes across international borders.

Kumar revealed significant cooperation between his organisation and the UAE, especially with Abu Dhabi. He  added  that In 2011 some of its best trainers of the US Customs wil train customs officials in Abu Dhabi. He  also pointed to the great cooperation with Dubai Police and Dubai Customs and DNRD.

Maj Gen Khamis bin Hasher Al Mahrazi, Director of Operations and Training at the Ministry of Defence, said  tremendous efforts are being made to establish security and stability not only within their national borders  or at the regional level but also at the global level.

He added  that the global security threats may spread to the maritime sector. So marine decurity in the Gulf  is very important not only for our countries but also for the whole world where any breach of security of  our ports will have implications and consequences on the global economy.

The conference will discuss  on Tuesday how to fight fraud in papers and official documents and identity  impersonation as well as cooperation between regulatory authorities and executive authorities in the  application of national and international laws in the UAE.
