‘Pocket rocket’ iPhone SE in UAE stores from April 5

Apple has begun accepting pre-orders for its new 4-inch iPhone SE from this morning, with the device available in-store in exactly a week from now – April 5, 2016.

In the UAE, Apple has suggested a retail price of Dh1,649 (16GB variant) and Dh2,049 (64GB) for the new iPhone even as it is available for $399 (Dh1,465) and $499 (Dh1,835) in the US.

Neelesh Bhatnagar, CEO of Emax, told Emirates 24|7 that the firm will be accepting pre-orders for Apple’s new pocket rocket at the upcoming Gitex Shopper Spring, which starts tomorrow.

When asked if a smaller device will gain traction with tech savvy UAE residents, he said: “I believe there is a market for the smaller-screen iPhone, and many users of the older iPhone versions who are comfortable with that size will upgrade to the iPhone SE.”

Meanwhile, Etisalat has also confirmed that it has started accepting pre-orders for the new handy candy from Apple. “Etisalat will offer iPhone SE, the most powerful phone with a four-inch display, beginning on Tuesday, 5 April,” the operator said in a statement to Emirates 24|7.

Customers can pre-order iPhone SE beginning today (Tuesday, March 29) at the Etisalat website.

In the UAE, several online retailers have also been accepting pre-orders for the new iPhone at prices ranging between the Apple-suggested price of Dh1,649 to a rather ambitious Dh2,999 for the 16GB version.

Apple unveiled the iPhone SE, a new 4-inch smartphone that offers a smaller (and cheaper) option to the company’s flagship iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

Even as the Cupertino-based firm calls it the most powerful 4-inch phone, it is really a cross between the iPhone 5S (size) and the iPhone 6S (specs).

The UAE is among the second wave of countries to receive the device. Customers in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK, US Virgin Islands and the US will start receiving their pre-ordered devices beginning this Thursday, March 31.

iPhone SE will be available in space grey, silver, gold and rose gold metallic finishes in 16GB and 64GB models.
