Police bust ‘Mr Electronics’ in fake credit card case

The Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police have arrested a Nigerian identified as AA, aged 32, in a case of credit card fraud.

The man is accused of using fake and counterfeit credit cards to buy luxury goods from a number of shops in Sharjah.

A search of the accused’s residence led the police to a huge cache of electronic and household goods worth thousands of dirhams.

AA’s con was discovered at an electronics store in Sharjah where the staff raised the alarm over a credit card submitted by him belonging to a foreign bank.

When the store tried to verify the card they found it was a fake.

The police were immediately called in.

The police found a set of forged credit cards and passports belonging to persons of various African countries and a number of blank cheques on the person of AA.

Sharjah Police have urged owners of shops to check the identity of the people who make purchases using credit cards, especially those belonging to foreign banks, and to report immediately any suspicion.
