The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced a policeman to five-year jail for kidnapping and assaulting his ex-girlfriend who broke relationship with him.

FAM, 26, Emirati was also ordered to pay legal fees and Dh21,000 as interim compensation until a Civil Case is heard.

According to the records, the victim MAA, 23, Human resources executive, Emirati , testified that she knew the accused FAM, 26, Emirati nine years ago when she was 14. When she became 18, she started realising his intentions as he started to threaten to inform her parents about their relationship in order to submit to his demands.

Two months before the incident she broke her ties with him and stopped answering his phone calls. On December 12, at around 1.30pm she went down to her car from her work… I was shocked to see him in front of me… He held me and dragged me into my car saying he will kidnap me to Ajman as I refused to marry him. Prior to that he had sent me threatening SMS. He held one hand behind his back and the other one in his tooth to prevent her open the car’s door or seek help. He hit the car parked near and the pavement on the street… which resulted in explosion of the front tyre. He took a taxi and pulled me in…He asked him to drive to Ajman and asked him to drive to a police station or to call 999. The driver drove behind Dubai Police Headquarter and stopped in front of a traffic policeman. I tried to seek help of the policeman and the accused attempted to prevent me. The policeman asked us to get down… He told the policeman that I am his wife and ran away,” she testified.

Policeman Salahuddin Mohammed testified that a Dubai Taxi car stopped behind him and a woman was waiving and shouting “Help me, he is kidnapping me”. I asked them to get off the taxi... she was bare footed and her Abaya was torn off and had bruises on her face… He (the accused) claimed she is his wife and ran away.”

The victim’s senior, Fatima Ali, testified that MAA told her about the threats she got from FAM. Early in the morning he was seen roaming in the building – government office. “He left the place as he saw me near the lift. He went down the premises… Other employees told me that he kidnapped MAA whose mobile was on the ground as well as her shoes…. So police was notified.”

Other colleagues repeated the same testimony.

Forensic reported human bites on her arm as well as other bruises at her face… CCTV cameras of the government department proved the accused was roaming in the building.
