Qatar, UAE offer most job opportunities online

Qatar and the UAE show the maximum growth when it comes to online job posting activity in Middle East.

According to Monster Employment Index Middle East October 2012, the two countries beat the other countries in the region as Qatar was up 23 per cent followed by the UAE, up 16 per cent in year-over-year growth. Saudi Arabia was down 15 per cent and registered the steepest decline over the past 12 months

The Index showed positive year-on-year growth but at the same time it highlighted that employers maintained a cautious approach owing to the current global economic scenario.

The industry year-over-year trends showed that online opportunities exceeded October 2011 levels in seven of the 12 industry sectors monitored by the index.

Production/Manufacturing, Automotive and Ancillary (up 26 per cent) continued to lead all sectors followed by Hospitality (21 percent). Retail/Trade and Logistics  (up 16 per cent), remained amidst the top growth sectors in October. Consumer Goods/ FMCG, Food & Packaged Food , Home Appliance, Garments/ Textiles/ Leather, Gems & Jewellery (down 7 per cent) continued to register the steepest  annual  decline.

Occupation year-over-year trends showed that seven of the 11 occupation groups registered improved online demand over the year.

Sales and BD (up 23 per cent) led all occupational groups in year-over-year growth. Software, Hardware, Telecom (up 16 per cent) and Hospitality and Travel (up 10 per cent) saw increased demand over the year. Legal (down 27 per cent) professionals continued to register the weakest long-term trend.

Within the UAE Production/Manufacturing, Automotive and Ancillary (up 21 per cent) recorded the most notable growth in online opportunities over the year whereas Sales and BD (up 10 per cent) leads in annual growth amongst the occupation groups.

The Monster Employment Index is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity in Middle-East.
