Rain Effect: UAE mercury dips to 8°C

LATEST: UAE skies will continue to remain cloudy with, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) forecasting chances of rain even today (Sunday) with a further dip in temperatures.

The sea will be rough with relative humidity increasing at night and early morning.

According to NCMS, the lowest temperature recorded on Saturday was 8.3 degrees Celsius in Mount Jess at 3.15 am.

Hussain Al Banna, Director of Traffic at RTA, said that emergency teams were in action immediately after the rain started to attend to any emergency on roads.

Water pumps were used to suck out water pooled in several places, he added, to enable smooth traffic flow.

Al Banna urged public to call RTA on 8009090 in case of any emergency during wet weather.

Al Ain city witnessed rain accompanied by winds on Saturday, with temperature on Jebel Hafeet Mountain dipping to 10 degrees Celsius.

Several places in Sharjah had water pools and municipality was in action to ensure smooth traffic flow and help residents.

Meanwhile, in Fujairah rains was accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah also witnessed light showers yesterday.

RAK Police deployed 30 traffic patrols on main streets and roads leading to mountain and valleys to deal with any emergency.

The minimum temperature forecast for mountainous areas is 8 degree Celsius, with a maximum of 25 degree Celsius in coastal areas

Rain lashes several parts of UAE

UAE residents woke up to a plesant Saturday morning as several parts of the UAE received early showers.

According to National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), the UAE skies will remain cloudy today, with the cloud cover increasing over scattered areas.

There are chances of rainfall accompanied by fall in temperatures, the weather bureau added.

Moderate to fresh winds are expected to kick up dust in exposed areas and is likely to reduce horizontal visibility at times.

Temperatures in internal areas will dip to lows of between 11 and 18 degree Celsius, while mountainous areas will see a low of 8 degree Celsius.

Maximum temperature in coastal area will hover between 24 and 26 degree Celsius, with a humidity of 90 per cent.

Temp drops to 9°C; mild tremors felt on Thursday morning

The lowest temperature recorded over the UAE today morning was 9°C in Jais Mountain at 1:45 AM.

The National Center for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), the official UAE weather forecaster, says the sky will be partly cloudy weather to cloudy at times.

The amount of low clouds will increase over the islands, the western areas, and the coasts during night and Saturday morning, with a chance of rainfall.

Moderate to fresh winds can be expected in general, especially over the sea, and causing dust to blow over the exposed areas.

Sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf, and moderate to rough at times in Oman Sea.

The relative humidity will increase during night and early morning times over the internal and the coastal areas.

Mild quake in UAE's Dibba region

The National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said the tremor was recorded at 4:46am on Thursday morning.

The tremors were mild and it was experienced only by a handful of people.

"Felt by few people with intensity 1-2 on Mercalli scale with no effect over UAE," the NCMS tweeted.
