Latest update: Light to medium rain fell yesterday on various parts of Al Gharbia (the Western Region of Abu Dhabi Emirate), and continued until this morning.

The skies remain cloudy in several parts of the emirate, promising more showers.

Dubai Police earlier tweeted: An #accident has been reported on Sheikh Khalifa Road coming from Burjuman Center toward DWTC, please be extra cautious.

The wet weather today brought parts of the UAE to a standstill with several accidents reported, along with traffic jams caused by waterlogging in areas.

The afternoon traffic showed congestion on the Sharjah-Dubai highway, which has been sticky since morning, along with the Garhoud Bridge, heading into Dubai, and the Oud Metha Road in front of Latifa Hospital as slow moving.

Meanwhile, those commuting in and out of the Gardens need to take caution with reports coming in of waterlogging in the area and slow moving traffic that is still persisting in the afternoon.

In the capital, Abu Dhabi Police has also reported on traffic congestion and delays inside the first industrial tunnel in Musaffah Industrial Area, inbound Abu Dhabi.

Earlier in the day, five road accidents had been reported across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, with the latter seeing a car flip over on its side near the exit of Ring Road, connecting to Maliha Road.

The UAE’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology spoke to Emirates 24|7 today, warning of more rain and high winds in open areas.
A spokesperson stated: “Abu Dhabi and Fujairah has experienced heavy downpour since morning, with parts of Dubai and Sharjah also facing similar conditions.

“We are cautioning drivers of high winds in open areas and dust storms, along with the rain.”

The spokesperson also said the NCMS has issued a marine warning today with rough seas reported in the Oman Sea and the Arabian Gulf.

The weather is expected to continue for the next 48 hours
